According to ICOM, the ICOM IC-475E was the most sophisticated all-mode 70cm transceiver available on the market when it was introduced. It featured the new CI-V system, a system to computer control the rig and it pioneered a Direct Digital Synthesizer (DDS) system which eliminated the need for a PLL circuit.
