Couldn't be happier with it

contact

I bought this radio knowing nothing about ham radio (you gotta start somewhere) I didn't want to limit myself or to have to buy something else down the track. Then I learned about other rigs and had the usual "Maybe I did a mistake, other's stuff is better" Now 3 years later I couldn't be happier to own it. It really is the best choice for a mobile/portable setup. Possibly at home too but I can't say anything about that.

Do it all portable base radio!

I have had this radio for about 4 months and I must say it is impressive. It does HF very well with good filtering. The audio reports are good and no one can tell the difference in this rig and my 756 pro 3. It does 6 meter, 2 meter and 440 just like a dedicated rig. The nice thing about this little rig is one can control every aspect of the radio body through one control cord. I drilled a hole from my basement ceiling into my bedroom. I ran the control cable through the hole and carpet under a hollow night stand out of sight. The radio and power supply are snugged into the ceiling corner of the basement next to my house vac where there is a plug in. I ran a cable from an Icom AH-4 tuner to the radio body and connected a 2/440 vertical antenna to the radio as well. Upstairs, I can pull the cable out from under the night stand and connect the radio head. From there, I have everything in a neat little package including a built in speaker. This is easy to hide and makes for a very clean install. I am using this upstairs now for the really cold day since my other rigs are in the basement and there is no heat in that full basement area. The 10 foot control cord is plenty of cable for me to move the radio around the room. With the AH-4 connected, I can tune on just about any band. I don't view this radio as a mobile radio, but rather a very compact do it all bedroom or office radio. It is high quality. The prices are coming down; so, check the holiday sales and rebates. The more I use this rig, the more I appreciate it.
