RME

Radio Manufacturing Engineers, Inc. was founded in the early 1930s by two hams - E. Shalkhauser, W9CI and Russ Planck, W9RGH. The company's home base was Peoria, Illinois. RME started with the RME-RME 9 and RME-RME 9D in 1932/1933. The famous RME-RME 69 was announced in 1935. Using nine tubes, a stout chassis and a tight, compact layout, the RME-69 provided the user a receiver with lots of sensitivity along with great performance features and a tuning and bandspread dial system that was "velvet smooth" - even though the dial nomenclature was minuscule.
