Top Class Receiver

AOR AR-5000+3, Desktop HF/VHF/UHF Scanner / receiver

An outstanding performer, excellent build quality very rugged. Frequency accuracy was superb, sensitivity was excellent, selectivity was good and further enhanced when I fitted an RCA socket to the rear panel and wired it so my Timewave 599zx could use the excellent internal speaker. The available PC software was a tad agricultural but worked well when I eventually found and corrected an install bug. The RF performance outclassed many receivers of the day, and even today, although AOR have introduced new models that surpass even this high standard, probably beyond the appreciation of the discerning human ear! I am a big fan of AOR equipment, the build quality and quality control sets a benchmark that many aspire to but so very few, if any, equal. Highly recommended.
