This A-model includes some improvements from the previous version (ICOM IC-751), but it still have the battery-backed BIOS-RAM. Special procedure to replace the battery, or the radio will die!

When it came to which rig I would keep: Drake 7 or Icon 751a, I chose the latter. The 751a was, at one time, Icoms Flagship of transceivers. It was smoother to operate and the controls were right at your fingertips. To this date, I have found the 751a has MORE features on it that are found on late model rigs. (Pre-2000).
