good receiver - build quality lets down in places

Kenwood TR-751E, Mobile VHF Transceiver

Very good ears! Hears well, good TX Audio. Pity about the problems with the potentiometers! Cheap Pots let down an otherwise excellent rig from Kenwood. You can't get spares anymore and iI resorted to building a breakout box, replacing the on/off switch, audio gain, RF gain, squelch and R.I.T. functions. This was the only way I found to save this from the parts box. The fact that I bothered should stand as testament to what I think about the performance of this great little box. I will be gutted when it finally dies. GM4UPN
