MFJ 9420X, QRP | Shortwave Transceiver | 20 m | CW/SSB

This radio could be called and energy saving green radio. It only uses 2 amps of current to give 10 watts out SSB, but it has a very good modulation with a very good speech processor. I was 5/7 into California from South Africa running with only 5 watts. The guy I spoke to said my modulation was very good. 100% readable. I was also 5/6 into India. It also has a very good reception I hear stations from the U.S.A in South Africa coming in loud and clear 5/9+ 40. The only drawback is that it has analog tune which is not very accurate at all and it drifts a lot before it is warm. But oh what a fun radio to use I give this radio 110 out of 100 for fun.

what a wonderfull green radio

MFJ 9420X, QRP | Shortwave Transceiver | 20 m | CW/SSB

The MFJ. 9420x is a wonder full QRP. SSB. radio which dose really work very well. The main point about the 9420x is that is an enviroment friedly green radio as it saves power by only using 2 amps to give 10 wats out. It can also transmit at any power 1 watt up to 10 watts. So it is great as a QRP.and field station radio to run off a baterry. It has a powefull modulation with a built in speach processor. The reception on the radio has to be seen ( heard) to be believed. Stations come in full and strong. I get most USA. Amateurs on 59+ 10+20 with this radio from my HQ. in South Africa. So all round I give it full marks, the only thing is that is has analog frequency display.
