The ICOM IC-229E is a Mobile VHF Transceiver. It covers 136-174 MHz for receive and 144-146 MHz for transmit. Frequency stability is ± 10 p.p.m. (-10 °C ~ +60 °C). Tuning steps are selectable from 5, 10, 12.5, 15, 20, 25 and 1000 kHz. The receiver system uses a double conversion superheterodyne design with IF frequencies of 1st: 17.2 MHz and 2nd: 455 kHz. Image rejection is greater than 60 dB. RF output power is selectable at High: 25 W, Low 3: 10 W, Low 2: 5 W, and Low 1: 1 W. Audio output is 2.4 W @ 10% THD into 8 ohm. It has 20 memory channels. Power requirements are 13.8V DC. Current drain is Max 0.5 A for receive and Max 6 A for transmit. Dimensions are 40 × 140 × 105 mm. The IC-229E weighs 750 gr.
