The ICOM IC-502 is a bookshelf portable. The size allows one to carry it around, but most 502's will probably spend most of their time standing in a bookshelf. The IC-502 had very coarse tuning and required a very steady hand to operate and it suffered from frequency drift. Both problems were solved in the ICOM IC-502A in 1980.
