This radio does what it was built to do but in style even today it,s still soldiering away and going from 0 to 50 MHz most stop at 30mhz and cost alot more , you could do alot worse than find a nice used version like I did for not to much money and have yourself a cracking little radio that does more than most it,s a big thumbs up from me.!

This is an excellent portable rig. Great for the car or portable use. I've used mine in the car for years and it performs great. It has a great noise blanker. You get the HF bands and the VHF/UHF bands all in one radio. The only problem I've had is that the driver transistor (not the final) went bad and had to have it repaired (that transistor is still available as of 2016). Work DX with it all the time from the car or when I go on trips.

Love the detachable head and running mobile. Works great in shack too and well with digital modes. I run SSB mobile and PSK-31 primarily when fixed. Have taken it portable. Used ATAS-100 in car, beam and/or wire antenna when fixed. Never a problem. Have owned for over 10 years.
