I always wanted one of these radios, but they were too much $ for me when new. I finally had the opportunity to purchase a one owner one about 6 months ago. Best decision ever!!! I use it daily and I have to say that it is by far the finest Transceiver I have owned.

I bought my Ft-1000, non-D new in 1993 and equipped it with a 250 Hz CW filter and the 600 Hz filter for the subreceiver.
The rig gave me flawless service for 17 years and ran quite a few contests, including many Field Day events.
At about 60 lbs or so, it was getting so it was difficult for me to move it, and I needed to free up space, so with a tear in my eye, I sold it this year. This rig does have a built-in power supply and does not operate off 12V.
The 200W PA does give you another 3 dB when barefoot - which does come in handy.
This was Yaesu's first real "hit out of the park" and these rigs are still well worth having.
