The ICOM IC-38A is a Mobile VHF Transceiver. It covers 220-225 MHz for both receive and transmit. It uses a Double conversion superheterodyne receiver system with IF frequencies of 1st: 17.2 MHz and 2nd: 455 kHz, providing 60 dB image rejection. The RF output is selectable between High: 25 W and Low: 5 W. Audio output is 2.4 W (8 ohms at 10% distortion). It features 1 memory bank with 21 channels. Power requirements are 13.8 V DC ±15%. Dimensions are 50 × 140 × 171 mm and it weighs 1.18 kg. Current drain is 450-800 mA in receive mode and 3-6.5 A in transmit mode.
