30 years ago I owned a Yaesu 757gx. I loved that radio. I was studying for my ham ticket. I never could get the Morse code so I modified the rig to work on 11 meters. I lived in Washington, DC. a mile north of the White House in a seven story apartment building. The manager let me put up a tall antenna on the roof. With the 757gx I was able to talk all over our nation's capital. I loved the sound of SSB on 11 meters and I could talk all around the world when the conditions were right. The radio also had a general coverage receiver so I could listen to short wave stations. I sold my Yaesu 757gx to a friend at work who was a ham. I think he still has it. i wish I had never sold it. Now that there is no Morse code requirement I am again studying for my ham ticket and have been looking online to see if I could find a 757gx for sale. They have not made this rig in years but I see a number of them on eBay.. The build quality was so good I'm sure it would make an excellent classic ham radio today.
