The FT-897D features a Double-Conversion Superheterodyne receiver system for SSB/CW/AM/FM and Superheterodyne for W-FM. It has a frequency stability of ±0.5 ppm/1 hour @25 °C, after warmup. Tuning steps are 10 Hz for CW/SSB and 0.1 kHz for AM/FM/W-FM. The RF output is FM/SSB/CW: 100/100/50/20 W and AM: 25/25/12.5/5 W.
