Well I have owned my ICOM 7600 almost a month & it is an amazing piece of Ham Radio gear.It replaced an ICOM 756 PRO II & ICOM 746 PRO.1st thing that was done when the radio was unboxed & put on my desk was the V.2.0 firmware update.I never made a single contact without the update being installed. The filtering is amazing & much better than the two rigs it replaced. The band scope is much better than the 756 PRO II as well with many more setting choices. The rig works as expected with my ICOM PW-1 amplifier & audio reports have all be very good from locals & DX Stations with the HEIL PR-20 microphone.I like the ability too use PSK & RTTY without adding a computer & I use a wireless keyboard with the radio & it works great.I only wish they had added Keyboard CW as well & it just may have been a PERFECT HF/6 meter radio.I also find it strange that ICOM does not offer the 7600,7700,or 7851 with D-STAR not even as an option? The Top Three HF rigs in their line & D-STAR is nowhere to be found in any of them? If you want a D-STAR HF radio you must settle for a rig without a real time band scope & that Ugly Monochrome display? What are they thinking at ICOM? The 7600 is everything & much more than I bargained for & well worth the On Sale Price of $2999.95 with FREE shipping. The 7600 is easy to operate & many functions are the same as with previous ICOM rigs that I have owned so the learning curve is very small for me.I don't even miss the 756 PRO II but do miss having 2 meter SSB from the 746 PRO but who knows maybe I'll buy my 1st transverter ever & have 2 meter SSB with a real time band scope for a change. If you are looking for a serious HF/6 meter base rig then I think the ICOM 7600 is the answer to your deepest desires.I would not choose anything else if I needed to do it again Today.ICOM has another "WINNER"!
This radio is similar to the Pro 3, but it has better receive. The receiver is as good as I could ever imagine a receiver could be. It is quiet and sensitive. The audio is excellent. People know you are on an exceptional rig. The rig is beautiful. The tuner and filters work second to none. One can add a larger analog meter to view. Only complaint I have is the push button memory buttons and their location. I prefer a knob, but that's the only thing negative I can say about this outstanding rig.
I have had my Icom IC-7600 for 3 months. Over that time I have had nothing but good reports from any I have spoken to including DX copies into Spain and USA. I find the rig has excellent filters,is very easy to use and I could not be happier with my ourchase. In a nut shell it is a beutiful easy to use rig and responds well with my Al-811 amp.
I am dissaponted in one way I can change between my Icom IC-7400 and nobody has been able to pick the differance in audio but the 7600 is a far better radio recieve wise.
Just a followup on my USB statement...
It depends on the application you use.
HRD writes its own drivers so it worked fine.
Applications that use Microsofts MSCOMM interface will fail!
DX Labs Launcher (for example) will fail if the rig is turned off before the application is closed.
Microham's Router will also fail under the same condition so use their USB interface not Icoms.

I also replaced my ProIII with a 7600 and I am very happy with it. The receiver is noticeably better in SSB and CW and the built in tools like DSP, Roofing filter, NR and NB are vastly superior.
I had no problem using the USB port and it interfaced seamlessly with HRD and Icoms RSBA1 remote software. About the only fault I can find with this Rig is that some of the knobs are not as durable as the Pro3 but it is very close, the main exception being the Tuning knob which is a lot smoother and better on the 7600.
Replaced my PRO3 with this rig. Also have an IC-7000. The IC-7600 is a great rig. Integrated into my shack with Microham interfaces and a PW-1. Ecexellent performance.
Only issue is that the USB port is a disaster. Had to disconnect it. Because of being unpower byu the computer it caused applications using it to fail if the rig was turned off out of sequence and disrupted other interfaces on the Bus. I couldn't believe that they finally provided an alternative to the CIV and then blew it! Shame on Icom.
Bought my IC7600 last year. Spectrum Scope Display is just BRILLIANT!
It has the most amazing receiver and brilliant sounding transmit audio right out of the box.
It outperforms every other radio I have owned.
The user control over RX and TX filtering is incredible.
I use mine interfaced with Ham Radio Delux using a single USB cable (plug n play) and remote control into it effortlessly with my Android phone. I can work DX with my IC7600 from anywhere in the world, remotely via internet or right in front of it.
I have used this radio recently in the CQWW SSB Contest 2011 and scored 1st in Oceania and VK with 581400 points running just 100w out of this radio!
If you are considering which radio to spend your money on, this sweet transceiver will not disappoint you!
