KDK FM-144 10SX RII Transceiver review.

Very early PLL LED displayed 2M FM rig. No complicated menus, but think back to 1976 technology. Power out MAX to 10W, low can be switchable to 1W. Very nice, crisp, TX audio. (I've had great complements on that with this rig.) Sensitivity was around .25uV, so on par with most 2M transceivers. Mine had the optional scanner base for it, but that never did seem to work. No memories, but using that double FREQ step dial quickly let you tune anywhere in 2M. No PL tone FREQ's, a problem for most repeaters today, but this is a good simplex rig for those simplex rag chews. RF power can be cranked down to 5W, making it perfect for linear amps. This was a fun rig to use, but good luck in finding a schematic for it if you do need to do major repairs. That, and most of the IC's in it are way obsolete. Although this was a very fun rig to use, consider it now a novelty rig for the preceding that was mentioned.
