Got this decades ago.
It still works never gave me any problem.
Great perfomer.
The microfone cables outer hull has fallen off exposing the wires, oh well, nothing lasts forever.
I have owned my HTX-242 for 13 years now ( My very first amateur transceiver) and it is an excellent radio. Does 14 watts in low power and 50 watts in high power as measured with a Paradynamics PDC-9 SWR/Watt meter. It works so well that I purchased a second one used at a hamfest a couple years ago. Only drawbacks are the display lights burn out quickly and also a replacement microphone is as rare as hen's teeth to find. The one I purchased at the hamfest has a hum in the microphone which I confirmed by using the mic off the 13 year old one on it and the hum disappeared. I have not been able to find a replacement mic for the second one I purchased used at the hamfest.
