What a great rig this is.
Very easy to use and understand.
This rig works great as a field station, mobile or base station.
The reaction I get from those who have never seen this radio before is "Wow"
I use my FT-897-D as my base station.

for its spec works well in all modes.using a 6 trap hustler copied from usa,norway,s,africa, ussr thyland very good for its cost, used for 3 yrs but have now swapped for ft 450. which is years ahead in spec,

When i purchased this mobile/base transceiver was not aware of it being an original of the D model being sold. As i have compared they are both the same except for a few features the original did have, 60 meters. Which is an easy modification simply by removing a couple of components depending on what modification your doing. Beautiful both in transmitting and receiving as i use most of the features and including playing around with the beacon section.
