Ranges: .15-.38, .54-1.5, 1.95-6.3 and 5.9-18 MHz. Note reception gaps from .38-.54 and 1.5-1.95 MHz. This simple receiver was designed for home or shipboard cabin use. It was also advertised as a semi-portable. It has a two toned metal cabinet.

The model 870A (1962-1963, new £33-35) is similar but with a fifth range extending coverage up to 24 MHz. The 870A ranges are: .15-.38, .51-1.4, 1.3-3.5, 3.2-7.5 and 7.5-24 MHz.
