The KX-3 has proven to be an excellent rig for me. I purchased it factory built after reading reviews and the product test on the ARRL website, and it has not let me down so far. So far I've worked sideband, cw, psk31 and rtty with great success. The little rig is tolerant of power supply, running from a cheap RadioShack power supply, battery or solar cell without a hiccup. When I accidentally over voltaged it, it simply turned itself off and suffered no damage. The internal ATU has tuned nearly every strange antenna or wire I've connected to it, usually within 1.3/1 swr. With properly made antenna I have been able to work Europe, Australia, and all 50 United States. 10 watts was enough to earn my WAS award with my horizontal loop in my attic crawlspace, low dipoles thrown into trees, and even a buddypole-style homebrew. It's a great rig that I'm not parting with anytime soon.
