Hallicrafters S-20R Sky Champion reviews

Bought mine when I was 15 years old in 1970. My first "real" receiver (superhet, bandspread and bfo). For what it is, it's a good receiver. Biggest issues are stability. It does drift until it has been on for an hour or so, and any vibration makes listening to CW or ssb difficult. So if don't have a slab floor, walk gently. Selectivity is so-so, no crystal filter. Making the IF regenerative will give single-signal reception on cw, however.

Mine has sat for a few decades now. Time to re-cap and use it again.
