The Icom IC-7600 provides professional performance in the 160 to 6 meter amateur bands. It utilizes Icom's proven IF-DSP technology and features selectable roofing filters at 3kHz, 6kHz and 15kHz. Like the ICOM IC-7700 and ICOM IC-7800, the IC-7600 uses dual 32-bit floating-point Texas Instruments DSP chips with one for the radio other for the spectrum scope. 104dB dynamic range and +30dbm 3rd order intercept point is achieved on the HF bands. It utilizes a double superhet with an image-rejection 2nd mixer circuit providing improved in-band IMD. The 5.8 inch (diagonal) color WQVGA display has a quick-start LED backlight and views well from any angle and you can even program your startup screen. Dual frequency watch is available with same band operation. There is even a RTTY and PSK31 encoder/decoder built-in!
The IC-7600 has all the features you would expect are here including PBT, RIT, XIT, keypad, 24 hour clock-timer, 101 memories and multiple scan modes. There is also a built-in voice recorder and voice synthesizer (English/Japanese selectable]. This radio has two USB ports. The front panel USB port is for keyboard or memory drive (not supplied) and one on the rear panel for PC control and audio. This radio has a six transmit meter functions and three meter display modes. Plus a meter output jack on the rear panel. Enjoy great stability with a built-in TCXO providing 0.5ppm (0 - 50°C). There is both a mechanical relay (16V/0.5A) and FET relay (250V/200mA) for keying external amplifier. Separate RX-OUT and RX-IN antenna ports are provided allowing connection of external preselectors, multicouplers etc. There is also a transverter port.
The IC-7600 comes with HM-36 hand microphone, OPC-1457 DC power cable, MB-121 carry handle, CW plug and spare fuses.
Suggested price is somewhere in the USD 4000 range.
I also replaced my ProIII with a 7600 and I am very happy with it. The receiver is noticeably better in SSB and CW and the built in tools like DSP, Roofing filter, NR and NB are vastly superior. I had no problem using the USB port and it interfaced seamlessly with HRD and Icoms RSBA1 remote software. About the only fault I can find with this Rig is that some of the knobs are not as durable as the Pro3 but it is very close, the main exception being the Tuning knob which is a lot smoother and better on the 7600.
Bought my IC7600 last year. Spectrum Scope Display is just BRILLIANT! It has the most amazing receiver and brilliant sounding transmit audio right out of the box. It outperforms every other radio I have owned. The user control over RX and TX filtering is incredible. I use mine interfaced with Ham Radio Delux using a single USB cable (plug n play) and remote control into it effortlessly with my Android phone. I can work DX with my IC7600 from anywhere in the world, remotely via internet or right in front of it. I have used this radio recently in the CQWW SSB Contest 2011 and scored 1st in Oceania and VK with 581400 points running just 100w out of this radio! If you are considering which radio to spend your money on, this sweet transceiver will not disappoint you! 73 de VK2LAW - Sydney, AUSTRALIA.
Replaced my PRO3 with this rig. Also have an IC-7000. The IC-7600 is a great rig. Integrated into my shack with Microham interfaces and a PW-1. Ecexellent performance. Only issue is that the USB port is a disaster. Had to disconnect it. Because of being unpower byu the computer it caused applications using it to fail if the rig was turned off out of sequence and disrupted other interfaces on the Bus. I couldn't believe that they finally provided an alternative to the CIV and then blew it! Shame on Icom.
Estimating the value of a rig can be challenging. The graph below shows historical prices paid by hams over the years. May it guide you to good fortune...
