More than a legend - they were and many are still real performers.
I own two and have owned others that are now in the hands of other appreciative HAMS.
Although there were some with some manufacturing flaws, these transceivers really work and work well..... I rarely have gotten anything but good reports on SSB and CW.
Receiver performance - good sensitivity, good noise rejection and exceptional selectity.
One of the easiest performance rigs to operate.
BEST RADIO FOR CW OPERATION THESE IS MY NUMBER ONE RIG.GREAT QSK NO RADIO ON THE MARKET TODAY WILL DO BETTER THAT THE PARAGON RADIO ON CW TODAY.
Nice rig for the money on the used market, easy to use and easy to fix if you should have an issue.
Funny thing about this rig is the same poor review on this site is the same posted on many other sites, so either everyone is posting the exact same thing or one preson is doing all they can to bash this radio, hens, I decided the review was of no value and bought one regardless.
I am glad I did, a nice radio for the money and what a receiver! Great TX audio too.
i usually use the paragon for CW but have tried SSB with 80 watts and useing the TT 705 Mic.got excellent reports and very good on receive, most people say its not a good SSB rig but i dont beleive that, its simple to use, no fancy menues, i have put the Geihl chip in it, no its not a contest rig and thank goodness no DSP, dont need it.also like the digital clock. i do know the difference in radios, i also have the TT orion. also if you like shortwave its good to go and i modified the radio for 5 watts transmit. dont know how long it will last but it has served me well. hope this review doesnt jinks it.i have had a knwd 570DG and liked it also, used Icoms, drakes and an elecraft, they are all good rigs. it only has one fault so far, its so big, takes up a lot of space.
I had a Paragon for about three months and in this time it gave me nothing but trouble with PLL problems to firmware issues. My Drake TR7 simply destroyed the Ten-Tec hands down...
