The Realistic WeatherRadio Alert is a very simple, three button NOAA weather radio receiver.
From the user manual:
Your REALISTIC WEATHERADIO ALERT is specially designed to receive weather reports broadcast 24 hours a day by the National Weather Service. Special stations provide most of the United States with continuous news of weather conditions and forecasts; your Weatheradio Alert receives their transmissions from up to 50 miles away! These stations operate at 162.550, 162.475, or 162.400 MHz.
In addition to reception of weather information, this radio incorporates a special alarm circuit that sounds when an emergency weather situation exists. The local National Weather Service transmission broadcasts a special signal that triggers this circuit automatically.
The built-in siren alarm operates at full power regardless of the volume control setting and is ready to be triggered anytime the red standby LED is lit. An optional lock-on for the siren alarm is available to provide a continuous alarm for maximum warning. The red standby LED flashes in addition to the siren after the alarm is broadcast.
A convenient alarm TEST button lets you check for proper operation of the siren alarm. Your Weatheradio Alert comes with both line cord and telescoping rod antennas for best reception.
In case of AC power failure, the unit switches automatically to the internal battery thus assuring you of complete weather alert protection (especially during those critical power-out situations).
Your Weatheradio Alert is crystal-controlled for tuning accuracy (crystal not replaceable).
