I bought this radio new in 1984 from EGE, Inc in Woodbridge, VA. I have owned and used this radio since. In 27 years, the only problems I had with it were man-made. The radio was stolen twice and recovered both times. The first time, the thief connected cb antennas and fried the finals on both bands. The second time, he cut off the N connector and put an SO239. Insurance replaced the finals and I replaced the N connector. The only other problem was one of the buttons stopped working. A friend found a plastic spacer had worn through and replaced it with a piece of card stock. I love this rig and it is my "base". It has been used for the talk-in for the KARC hamfest in Georgia for the last six years, without flaw. The best thing are the memories, there are only 10 and it is the easiest radio to program I have ever owned.
