The MVT-5500 is the simple version of the Yupiteru MVT-7500. Where the MVT-7500 has dual-VFO, the 5500 has only one.

Both the MVT-5500 and the MVT-7500 are targeted at the Japanese market. Rumors suggest that coverage is not continuous. Some 'private' Japanese frequencies are blocked and it is uncertain if full coverage can be restored. Also, English manuals are not available at time of writing (Aug. 2009)
