My reviews & stories

Yaesu FT-920

Yaesu FT-920AF, Desktop HF/VHF Transceiver

I obtained this rig via a on-line swap for a old IC-746 non-pro I had. The fella wanted to do a straight swap. Seeing as how the 746 was my back up rig I said ok. This rig makes the 746 seem like a CB. Very good receiver and the lay out of all the functions on this rig are easy to use and understand. It is still my back up rig but from time to time I enjoy getting on CW with this radio. I would give it a 5 star rating over the years I have owned it.
Will probably never get rid of it, unless a good trade comes along, hi.

Great Rig for the money!

ICOM IC-756 Pro II, Desktop HF/VHF Transceiver

After owning this rig for 6 months now I have found it to be very much my favorite. I work 99% CW so most of my thoughts are for this mode.
The filtering is outstanding and very easy to set up and use. Chasing DX is a big part of my operating and the split work with the dual watch has become one of my most favorite of this rig. I do utilize the scope function quite often, this is one reason I purchased this rig. One thing we all know if we can't hear them we can't work them. The receiver is wonderful, or at least better than anything I have had next to my Ten Tec Omni 6plus. All is all this is a great buy for the money. I am one happy customer.

Wonderful CW Rig

Ten-Tec Omni VI Plus (564), Desktop Shortwave Transceiver

This rig is the best CW rig I've owned. It has the Ten Tec 500 hz 900 Mhz, the 500 Hz 6.3 Mhz, the 250 Hz 6.3 Mhz and the 1.8 Hz 6.3 Mhz filters, plus the Inrad 753 400 Hz and the Inrad 600 Hz filters. This rig will pull almost anything out of the noise. I live on a small city lot and only use a tribander at 40 feet, and a 450 Ohm center fed zepp. I have 295 DXCC countries worked and 289 confirmed all with 100 watts or less. For the money and a older rig it can hold it's own with almost any of today's rigs. Wonderful QSK operation and easy to operate, don't need to go to school to set down and operate it.
