My opinion about RA-1217

Racal RA-1217, Desktop Shortwave receiver

Beeing a ham radio operator for over 30-years and having a lot of HF receivers to compare,I must say that it wasn't a best Racal product.Rather noisy, low IP3 .Stability is good thanks to Wadley loop. The designers from Racal have tried to build a transistorized version of RA-117,but it wasn't the same as this great tube rig !.For example RF input is a typical bipolar transistor... I sell my RA-1217 quicker then I bought ;-)
